Frame Fit company offers over 135 mat colors to compliment almost any artwork. Our affordable pricing makes this a great option when determining your framing preferences. Choose from four types of matting including suede, acid free, our exclusive Richboro acid free mats, or papermat. All mat colors are available as full sheets or can be custom cut in our state-of-the-art computerized mat cutting facility to perfectly fit your artwork.

How to measure for your mat:
  1. Measure the height and width of your artwork to the nearest 1/8". (Note: For a stretched canvas, measure from wrapped corner to wrapped corner. Use these dimensions for the size of your frame, plexi-glass and backing board.)
  2. For a Custom Cut Mat, use the graphic to the right to help determine your opening size. Write down your measurements so you have them when placing an online order. Please double check your measurements to ensure accuracy.
Matting Tips
You should create a nice transition from the artwork to the frame without the mat overpowering the art. Determining how wide your mat border should be is a personal preference. Typically, a mat border has a 2", but on larger pieces, it may be as wide as 3", 4" or 5". All four borders can be the same size, or, if preferred, the bottom border can be 1/2" larger than the other three sides.

Add A Finishing Touch:
Foamboard - Regular or Acid Free, 1/8" or 3/16" (available as full sheets or custom cut)
Plexi-Glass - Regular or None Glare

     Legend:
     A: Overall width.
     B: Overall height.
     C: Top border.
     D: Left border.
     E: Right border.
     F: Bottom border.

Please note: the mat opening size should be 1/4" less than the artwork size. This will allow the mat to cover the edge of your artwork by 1/8" all the way around, ensuring the artwork is held in place by the mat.
